Biography
I have 40 years of clinical experience working with trauma and have applied my learning to the teaching and learning of psychotherapy at the university. I also have a background as a meditation instructor and teach a meditation courses to undergraduates and graduates in psychology.
I was certified as an instructor in Cognitive Based Compassion Training (CBCT) in the fall of 2019 through Emory University and teach CBCT every semester. I have received several internal grants providing various mindfulness-based programs to students at GovState.
While my professional career has been clinical in nature within the last five years, I have become involved in several research projects focused on the impact of mindfulness and compassion on student’s experience of belonging and learning. My training and background as a clinician and in mindfulness and compassion are central to all that I do as Professor Emeritus.
In addition to being an adjunct, I continue to lead a weekly meditation group in the community on Friday mornings. All are invited (call 708-220-2696)
